SSS complete Benefits and Details

 The Social Security System (SSS) of the Philippines provides a comprehensive range of benefits to its members, encompassing sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death, funeral, and unemployment benefits. Each benefit has specific qualifications and documentary requirements. Below is a detailed overview.

🩺 1. Sickness Benefit

Description: A daily cash allowance for members unable to work due to sickness or injury.

Qualifications:

  • At least four (4) days of sickness or injury.
  • Paid at least three (3) monthly contributions within the 12-month period immediately before the semester of sickness.
  • Has notified the employer or SSS (for self-employed/voluntary members) of the sickness or injury. 

Requirements:

  • SSS Medical Certificate (Med 01688) with complete diagnosis and recommended days of confinement.
  • Supporting medical documents (e.g., lab results, X-rays).
  • For employed members: Employer’s notification to SSS. 

🤰 2. Maternity Benefit

Description: A daily cash allowance granted to female members for childbirth, miscarriage, or emergency termination of pregnancy.

Qualifications:

  • Paid at least three (3) monthly contributions within the 12-month period immediately before the semester of contingency.
  • Notification to the employer (for employed members) or directly to SSS (for self-employed/voluntary members). 

Requirements:

  • Maternity Notification Form.
  • Proof of pregnancy (e.g., ultrasound report).
  • Valid IDs.
  • For employed members: Employer’s certification.  

♿ 3. Disability Benefit

Description: A cash benefit for members who suffer partial or total permanent disability.

Qualifications:

  • Paid at least one (1) monthly contribution before the semester of disability. 

Types:

  • Monthly Pension: For those with at least 36 monthly contributions.
  • Lump Sum: For those with less than 36 monthly contributions. 

Requirements:

  • Disability Claim Application Form.
  • Medical Certificate and supporting documents.
  • Valid IDs.  

👵 4. Retirement Benefit

Description: A cash benefit for members who can no longer work due to old age.

Qualifications:

  • At least 60 years old (optional retirement) and separated from employment or ceased self-employment.
  • At least 65 years old (mandatory retirement), regardless of employment status.
  • Paid at least 120 monthly contributions prior to the semester of retirement. 

Requirements:

  • Retirement Claim Application Form.
  • Valid IDs.
  • Proof of separation from employment (if applicable).
  • Bank account details for disbursement.  

⚰️ 5. Death Benefit

Description: A cash benefit granted to beneficiaries of a deceased member.

Qualifications:

  • For monthly pension: Deceased member had at least 36 monthly contributions.
  • For lump sum: Deceased member had less than 36 monthly contributions. 

Requirements:

  • Death Claim Application Form.
  • Death Certificate of the deceased member.
  • Valid IDs of claimants.
  • Proof of relationship to the deceased (e.g., birth or marriage certificates).  

⚱️ 6. Funeral Benefit

Description: A cash benefit given to whoever paid for the burial expenses of the deceased member.


Qualifications:

  • Deceased member had at least one (1) monthly contribution. 

Requirements:

  • Funeral Claim Application Form.
  • Death Certificate of the deceased member.
  • Official receipt of funeral expenses.
  • Valid IDs of the claimant.

💼 7. Unemployment Benefit

Description: A cash benefit for members who are involuntarily separated from employment.

Qualifications:

  • Not over 60 years old at the time of separation (exceptions apply for certain professions).
  • Paid at least 36 monthly contributions, with 12 months in the 18-month period before separation.
  • Involuntary separation due to authorized causes (e.g., redundancy, retrenchment). 

Requirements:

  • Unemployment Benefit Application Form.
  • Notice of Termination or Affidavit of Termination of Employment.
  • Valid IDs.  

Note: For all benefit claims, members are required to present original and submit photocopies of valid identification cards/documents for authentication purposes.
